Dual Credit Sociology is a college level course. The content and topics are more rigorous, higher level thinking with real life applications. The standards covered come straight from the Department of Education for post-secondary institutions (i.e. University of Memphis, Southwest TN Comm College, etc.)
There is an end of course Challenge Exam issued by the TN State DOE. If students pass that exam, they will earn 3 Credit Hours towards any Tennessee post-secondary institution. This is similar to Dual Enrollment, the difference is that students in this course do not need to currently be enrolled in a post-secondary institution. This course is actually part of a pilot program that Tennessee DOE is executing to ensure better college opportunities for students across the state. Bolton is one of 17 schools statewide, and it is the only school in West TN to offer this specific Dual Credit course. By the end of the course students will be able to:
